Gasket selection, any type of gasket, in the harsh environment, to ensure long-term effective sealing, need to have the following eight important characteristics:

1. Air tightness
For the medium of the sealing system, the gasket does not leak within a certain period of time at the recommend temperature and pressure.

2. Compressibility
The contact surface of the sealing gasket and the flange shall be well matched after the connecting bolts are fastened to ensure sealing.

3. Creep resistance
Under the influence of pressure load and operating temperature, the creep resistance of the sealing gasket should be good, otherwise it will cause the torque loss of the bolt, resulting in the reduction of the surface stress of the gasket, and the leakage of the hard gas system.

4. Chemical corrosion resistance
The gaskets selected shall not be corroded by chemical media and shall not contaminate the media.

5. Resilience
Even if the system is stable, the two connected flanges will certainly have a slight displacement due to the influence of temperature and pressure. The elastic function of the gasket should be able to compensate for this displacement to ensure the sealing of the system.

6. Adhesive resistance
The sealing gasket should be easily removed from the flange after use and should not be bonded.

7. Non-corrosive
The sealing gasket shall be non-corrosive to the flange surface of the connection.

8. Temperature resistance
The selected sealing gasket should ensure the normal use under the low temperature and high temperature of the system.
